Tim Gajser maintains his positive run in the MXGP class

Palembang (Indonesia), 7 July 2019 – The brand new Palembang circuit hosted the eleventh round of the 2019 FIM Motocross World Championship, the Grand Prix of Indonesia, and the first of two consecutive races organized in the country. The Indonesian track offered hard soil as the principal terrain and had been deeply excavated since the first practice. The surface highlighted the advantages of the SCORPION™ MX32™ Mid Soft front and rear tyres, and thanks to the excellent traction offered by the product allowed Pirelli’s riders to grab holeshots and celebrate overall victories in both classes.

Despite the absence of many riders due to injury, Pirelli swept the MXGP podium. There was a sixth consecutive victory for Tim Gajser who brought his lead over Antonio Cairoli to 130 points in the championship standings. The Sicilian was forced to miss Palembang due to a shoulder injury he sustained in Latvia last month. A great second place overall was taken for Romain Febvre who won the second moto to end a dry spell lasting almost two years. Jeremy Seewer continued his ascension in the MXGPclass taking third place overall and occupying this position also in the championship standings.

Pirelli also dominated in MX2. Overall victory went to Jorge Prado who further increased his lead in the standings. Tom Vialle performed excellently to finish in second place ahead of Thomas Kjer Olsen, who was third overall and is the first of Prado’s pursuers in the championship. Good results also for Jed Beaton, fifth, Brent Van Doninck, sixth, and for Calvin Vlaanderen, seventh in his comeback race after injury.

Next weekend the riders will again compete in Indonesia for the Grand Prix of Asia which will be hosted for the second year in a row by the spectacular Semarang track.
